Joshua Tree Park
Joshua Tree is a huge park. In addition to the paved roads there are many dirt roads that require 4 wheel drive. This gallery contains photos taken starting 2010. They include camping at Big Rock, the main road views, and the Desert Queen mine at the east end of Joshua Tree.
Look closely at some of the rock formations…it is as if giant animals have been captured in a suspended state of animation as they emerge from the earth’s mantle.
I’ve recently discovered the Mojave Preserve, which is at a higher elevation. Miles and miles of smaller Joshua trees (yucca jaegeriana) carpet the cima dome. The best way to describe the views are prehistoric. I think the same applies to Joshua Tree Park too.
